Description

Hamburg, Germany - Enthusiastic crowds mill around the city hall of Altona (adjoining Hamburg) as representatives of the new Nazi government, headed by Chancellor Hitler, haul down the flag of the German Republic and raise this flag of the empire. It is the banner under which many of them fought for Kaiser Wilhelm Hohenzollern during the World War. The change marked an important trend in the country's political history.
